Who is QCPCA?
Our Mission/Vision Statement:
To support and advocate for P&Cs to achieve quality educational outcomes in Queensland State Schools
The Queensland Council of Parents and Citizens' Associations Inc is a community organisation which represents the interests of state school Parents and Citizens Associations throughout Queensland. It has a history of more than 60 years. Approximately 1300 P&C Associations are affiliated.
QCPCA's Aims and Objectives are:
- To represent and co-ordinate the activities of P&C Associations.
- To foster, establish and encourage the activities of P&C Associations in the interest of the school students.
- To be involved in all areas of education affecting the parent, the school and the community.
- To co-operate with State education authorities and other bodies having objectives similar to those of the Council.
- To promote closer co-operation between Principals, Teachers, Students and Parents.
- To win general support for the objects of the State Council.
- To be non-sectarian and non-party political.
QCPCA is:
- governed by its Policy and Constitution
- a service organisation to its members in all areas relevant to their operation
- an advocacy group to governments, political parties, departments and the wider community
- managed by a voluntary executive elected each year from the 11 Regions covering the 7 Education Queensland Regions
- serviced by the State Office based in Brisbane
QCPCA provide:
- A personalised information service and support to your P&C, parents, staff, principals and members of Education Queensland. Information can be provided by mail, telephone, fax or e-mail.
- A quarterly newsletter, Parent Talk, which presents information of interest to P&C Associations, schools and parents (1 issue per term, 3 copies to each P&C)
- A monthly e-newsletter, QCPCA-e, which provides up to date information for P&Cs
- Regional guest speakers on request
- Research and reports
- Networking support for all target groups
- Analysis of federal and state education policies/budgets
- Representation at regional, state and federal levels
- Regional conferences, seminars workshops and skilling
- Resources, kits, CDs, journals eg from other state parent organisations
- Coming in 2012 each affiliate will be provided with their own log in and workspace in which they will be able to store and collaborate on key documents, a calendar of state level activity and a calendar for your P&C, the facility to complete P&C executive details online. This workspace will also provide direct links to useful documents, news and announcements.
- The opportunity to provide feedback to regional, state and federal organisations through the peak parent body in Queensland and our national partner, ACSSO.
